O'Callaghan's study was a Godsend to scholarly aficionados of the Cantigas. With his well-documented and readable style, he validates this enchanting set of manuscripts as a historical source. Amplifying his reading with more conventional primary sources, he presents an entertaining and focused biography of one of Spain's most interesting monarchs. The plates, although in black-and-white, are extremely useful -- one could only wish there were more of them, for the price!

Actually this is Paul Hahnel's book, the inventor of the modern delta strain. This is the best book ever written about guppies. Very little of the information is dated. Learn about the care of guppies from a master who kept it simple.

This book is a wonderful resource for any fan of the automobile. The late Leon Mandel was truly a man who loved his work.

This is another outstanding entry in the Guido Brunetti mystery series set in the incomparable Venice. My only question is why the entire series isn't published in the United States? This is one of the best studies of the cross in the twentieth century. It is not a comprehensive theological study of the cross. Instead, Morris focuses on words such as redemption, propitiation, and reconciliation. Like most academic books, it is difficult to read and tedious at times. It presupposes a working knowledge of Hebrew and Greek. But working through this book will greatly enrich your understanding of the cross. The sections on propitiation are worth the price of the book. These sections are the definitive conservative critique of C. H. Dodd's position that hilaskomai referred only to expiation

About a decade has past since I read this book while in High School. I remember liking it a lot as I read it and still remember some of the themes that were very consistent through so many of the stories... If you like Hansel & Gretel, you'll enjoy this.

This is probably one of the best books I've ever read. Novels. It's very simple, from the speech to the layout, but it's dealt with so beautifully that even the macabre side isn't disturbing.

Set in the sometimes-seamy underworld of the 18th century, it starts with an odd-job boy who becomes apprenticed to a lamplighter after doing the man a favour. Then, as the year goes by, it's woven in with the tales of eleven other apprentices. From the undertaker's daughter on Valentine's Day to the wig maker's assistant charming girls for their hair, there are tales of love, either lost or won, of misery, or just the joy of being alive.

Like, when I like a book, it's hard to write about it lucidly, but please believe me -it's wonderful.
